This takes me back to the bad old days in the 1990s when the big thing among website developers was “Web Pages That S*ck“.
(The prime example of a web page that s*cks at that time was the old Mayor’s website at the City of Portland, Oregon.)
The typical explanation for the problem was that web developers have to discipline themselves to an extreme extent by going against their own esthetic inclinations to cater to the general public who are not aficionados of some particular scheme.
It is not optional that the web developers employed by The COOLF must make this site compliant. There are numerous lawsuits for failure to comply with ADA; one that I can toss off from my memory 15 years after I last did paid work on websites is the Barden Lawsuit which, I can’t imagine how, but I know it happened, was expanded to apply to websites.
These lawsuits are brought by disabled, obsessional people who have nothing to do better than bring what even judges acknowledge are nuisance suits. Not long after a Stockton California restaurant much beloved by its community but which couldn’t afford the $50,000 it would take to install a wheelchair ramp, was forced to close after greater than 60 years operation by a person who may very well never even have crossed the Stockton city limits, the person bringing the suit was summarily halted from bringing obsessional disability lawsuits at 410 spurious legal actions—the judge forbade the obsessional disabled person from filing any more suits under pain of a contempt of court citation.
But there are legions more legal-obsessers out there, and given the news environment in which no Catholic parish church is safe from arson in Canada — no bodies were ever found at Kamloops — and France, it is only a matter of time before one of them finds about how poor the readability is of primary menu items on Bishop S.’s flagship website.
(I say this as a $100 monthly donor who takes Bishop S. as my own personal authority. My Pastor was ordained by Bishop S.)
