Key of G – Consonant with the Sheet Music

Key of F – Transposed

Robert Burns (1759-1796)
Ye Banks and Braes o’ Bonnie Doon
1. Ye banks and braes o’ bonnie Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair!
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary, fu’ o’ care!
Thou’ll break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons through the flow’ring thorn;
Thou minds’st me o’ departed joys,
Departed, never to return.
2.Oft’ have I roved by Bonnie Doon,
to see the rose and woodbine twine;
and ilka bird sang of its love,
and fondly so did I of mine.
With lightsome heart, I stretched my hand,
and pulled a rosebud from the tree.
But my false lover stole my rose,
and left, and left the thorn with me.
