Vangoa MAE-02 Digital Wind Instrument Instruction Pamphlet

The Vangoa is capable of playing a complete chromatic scale, not merely diatonic music.

It provides two narrow touch strips:

  • Sharp strip: raises the currently fingered note by one semitone.
  • Flat strip: lowers the currently fingered note by one semitone.

For example, in a C-scale context:

Desired note Method
C♯ Finger C + touch the sharp strip
D♭ Finger D + touch the flat strip
F♯ Finger F + sharp strip
B♭ Finger B + flat strip

Thus the same pitch can often be obtained in two ways: C♯ as sharpened C or D♭ as flattened D. You can choose whichever produces the easiest finger movement in the melody.

Sharp-Flat-Strips-Trans/PIT-Function

The Trans/PIT function is different: it shifts the entire instrument up or down by as many as 12 semitones. It is useful for changing key, but the sharp/flat strips are what provide accidentals while playing.

Unlike the sharp and flat strips, it does not modify every note by a semitone.

In Saxophone fingering, it is analogous to the lowest little-finger key on a saxophone: it participates particularly in producing the bottom note shown in the fingering chart. Its precise result changes with the selected fingering system, so follow the Saxophone chart rather than treating it as another accidental lever.
